It begins like a fairy tale: one day a young carpenter, the head of the sport climbing department of the Austrian Alpine Club and the ArtRock team met with the idea of ​​developing the best wooden climbing hold series on the market. The result was a unique series with 100% symmetrical holds, dual wooden texture for perfect grip, and a set composition that is ideally suited to professional bouldering.

DUAL WOOD – EDGES

High-quality wooden climbing hold set with twelve edges in different sizes.The Edges are undercut at an angle of 10° and offer ideal finger training. The Dual-Wood hold series was specially developed to achieve professional route and boulder construction with wooden climbing holds.The construction with two types of wood plays a special role. The grip area is made of brushed ash and offers ideal grip for the fingers. The base of the holds is made of beech and is smooth like other dual-texture holds. The rout setters can precisely determine the stopping direction and bring creative movement problems to the wall. This set contains ten edges in different sizes from XS – XL as well as two footholds.

All necessary screws (M10 cylinder head and spax screws) for mounting on standard climbing walls are included. The set also includes six magnetic cover caps for the central cylinder head screws.Compared to plastic climbing holds, wooden climbing holds are very gentle to the skin and ecological. Ideal for training purposes, as well as for sustainable routes and boulders in climbing facilities.

Instructions for use (Technical characteristics):

  • There may be differences in color between the individual holds, which are due to the natural material wood.
  • Wood is a natural material and has hygroscopic properties. This can lead to minor changes in shape over time, but these have no effect on the usability of the product.
  • The holds are cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner. (no chemicals and no soaking the holds in water)
  • The holds will be fixed with M10 screws and washers. Additional screw holes are made for wood screws (diameter = 5mm).
  • For the safe mounting it is recommended to use at least 2 of the screw holes for the fixation
  • The surface is treated with a wax oil and is therefore waterproof, abrasion-resistant, food-safe and chemical-resistant. (100% biodegradable)
  • Like commercial climbing holds made of plastic, wooden holds also show signs of use, which can occur more quickly or more slowly depending on the intensity of use.
  • Such signs of use are: changes in the color of the wood, soiling of the gripping surface (signs of abrasion from climbing shoes) through to fiber breakage in the gripping surface.
  • In case of a fibre break, the climbing hold should be replaced. (Has never happened before, but would be possible with long-term use)
  • Before use, the surface of each individual hold must be rubbed with chalk to ensure the friction of the holds.
